How do I synchronize my Google Ads expenses with Eulerian?

This documentation guides you through setting up a connector that will automatically synchronize your Google Ads campaign spend with the Eulerian marketing platform.
The objective is to enable the analysis of the performance of marketing campaigns via key indicators such as expenses, ROI and ROAS.

Prerequisites

Before you begin configuration, make sure you have the following items:
  • An Eulerian user account with “Administrator/Webmaster” rights.
  • A Google Ads user account with “Standard” rights.
  • All Google Ads campaigns must be previously tracked with the Eulerian tracking template specific to each type of campaign (Max Performance, Search Network, Shopping, Site Links).



Configuring the Google Ads Spending Connector in your Eulerian platform


Path: Collection → Media Collection → Budget Connector

    Click the  add new connector  button
    Search for “adwords”, click on the corresponding logo and fill in the necessary information
Note that if an Adwords connector is already configured, the connector icon will be tinted green, but this does not prevent you from adding another one, for a different Adwords account.
  • If you have several Adwords accounts to synchronize, you must create a synchronization connector per Adwords account
  • You cannot configure a connector on a Manager Account (MCC) directly
  • On the other hand, the account to be synchronized must be linked to a Manager Account (MCC), and you will have to carry out authentication with the MCC accesses (see below)

Sync Settings
  • name: This pre-filled field can be modified by you because you can declare several Google Adwords synchronizations. The name of the synchronization has no impact on its generation.
  • filter by campaign name: If you need to exclude one or more campaigns from synchronization, you must set up a filter corresponding to the name of the campaigns that you do not want to synchronize. This is necessary if you use the same Google Adwords account for 2 separate Eulerian sites. Using 2 different media on the same account does not exempt you from setting up the corresponding filters for each of the 2 synchronizations.
  • oAuth authentication : It is mandatory to carry out oAuth authentication in order to authorize your Google Adwords account to send data to the Eulerian platform. (See below)
  • support: Select from the list the support used in Google Adwords tracking links. This is the value passed to the esl-k parameter. Only media for which at least 1 click has been counted with sponsored links in Adwords format are displayed.
  • do not synchronize the budget : If you do not want to import Adwords budgets, check the box. The budget metric will therefore not be incremented.

oAuth Authentication

If you have already completed this step, in the oAuth authentication line, select your Google Adwords account from the drop-down list.
Otherwise, click on add .
Enter the name of the application in provide a name for this authentication (Free entry) then click on generate the partner authentication URLClick to open a new window .
The Google login page now opens and prompts you to enter your logins and passwords to complete the authentication procedure.

Scope of the Manager Account
  • The account used to manage the oAuth process must be a Manager Account (MCC).
  • If you have a Manager Account with several accounts and only one must be visible to Eulerian, we advise you to  create another Manager Account  and give it access only to the accounts to be made visible by Eulerian.
Once your credentials have been entered, a new connection is available in the oAuth authentication field on the interface. It is linked to your Eulerian account and made available for all your Eulerian sites.
Click on download list of advertiser accounts , you should see the list of your Adwords accounts.

To modify
Login information
  • user identifier (automatically populated) : Identifier of the selected Adwords account. (Format: XXX-XXX-XXXX).
  • client name (automatically populated) : Name of the associated Adwords account.
Select the account to synchronize and click add . The connector is now installed.
Warning : you must not select the MCC account but make a connector per “child” Adwords account




Connector Operation

  • The connector performs daily automatic synchronization between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. to retrieve data from the previous day.
  • Synchronization is retroactive, allowing historical data to be retrieved if necessary.
