Setting up advertising measurement — Eulerian Trafficking Complete Guide
Scope : This documentation covers tracking advertising campaigns across web and mobile web environments. For tracking mobile app download campaigns, please contact your Customer Success team.
The JS tag on the landing page reads the parameters from the URL
The Eulerian server records the click and then redirects the user.
Recommended method
Yes — the preferred option by default
Specific cases (see below)
Required if…
—
Server-Side (S2S) integration without JS tags on the page
Main advantage
Simple implementation, no additional redirection required.
Click counting independent of landing page load; essential in S2S
When to use which method?
Situation
Méthode à utiliser
Client-side implementation (JS tag on the landing page)
Parameter-based tracking (recommended)
Server-Side (S2S) Implementation — no JS tag
Redirect tracking (required)
Platform that does not support URL suffixes
Tracking via redirection
Need to count the click even if the page doesn't load
Tracking via redirection
Server-Side Integration : In an S2S integration, the JavaScript tag is absent from the landing page. The client's server sends Eulerian the current URL visited by the user (including tracking parameters). Redirect tracking is then mandatory to ensure clicks are counted, as it is the passage through the Eulerian server ( /dynclick/ ) that triggers the recording.
URL structure
Tracking by parameters (suffix on the destination URL):
eurl contains the final destination URL (unencoded). It is specific to redirection tracking.
Print pixel structure
Print jobs always use a call to the Eulerian server ( /dynview/ ). Two variants exist depending on your consent management method (TCFv2 or CMP by category) — see the GDPR section.
ea-rnd is a cachebuster : a random value that forces the pixel to be reloaded on each display for an accurate measurement.
5. Collection quality rules
Règle
Détail
All in lowercase
Eulerian parameters are case-sensitive . Enter 100% of your values in lowercase.
Required parameters are always filled in.
If a dynamic value is not available, use a hard-coded fixed generic value (e.g., default ).
Prohibited characters
The following characters are not accepted : / \ [ " ' < > * $ & ~ | \ ? ^ ]
Unique campaign name
Each campaign name must be unique per platform. Add the platform name as a suffix to ensure uniqueness (e.g., soldes-hiver-2024-facebook ). If the name is not unique, the campaign will be flagged as xx-123123--badname .
Creative tied to a single format
A creative ( -creative ) can only be linked to one format ( -creativetype ). Add the format as a suffix to the creative's name (e.g., visuel-promo-728x90 ).
6. Analytical Dimensions: Media Plan and Virtual Sub-Leverage
Eulerian offers two custom dimensions that allow you to group campaigns for your analyses.
Virtual Leverage (VLS)
Groups campaigns within the same marketing channel . Configuration via an automatic association rule based on the campaign name, or manually (retroactively).

The associated technical parameter is <prefixe>-mediaplan (e.g., ead-mediaplan , esc-mediaplan ...). It is optional and available on all channels.
7. Parameter reference per channel
Summary table of prefixes
Bold = required parameter · Normal = optional parameter
Recommended connectors : Google DV360, Google Campaign Manager.
SEA / Sponsored Link (ESL-K)
The SEA channel uses a specific mechanism: a unique structured parameteresl-k positioned as a suffix to the final URL directly within your advertising platform. Dynamic macros from Google Ads (ValueTrack) or Bing Ads are used to automatically retrieve the campaign structure.
Google Ads
Log in to your Google Ads account (or MCC sub-account).
Go to Settings > Account Settings > Tracking .
Paste into the Suffix field of the final URL :
Exampleof a URL automatically generated by GoogleAds:
Recommended connectors : Facebook Ads, Google Campaign Manager.
Affiliation (EAF)
A channel that brings together the initiatives of your affiliates and your affiliate platform (affiliate display, promo codes, cashback, affiliate blogs, affiliate emails).
Tracking the performance of your CRM and Mailing campaigns: email opens and clicks on your content.
Customer identification : It is strongly recommended to provide the uid (CRM ID) and eemail (email address hashed using SHA256) in your email tracking. This enables user recognition, multi-device reconciliation, and CRM synchronization workflows.
GDPR : the eemail parameter must contain the email hashed in SHA256 , never in plain text.
Partnership (EPT)
Channel to bring together initiatives with your direct partners. Provide your partner with the click tag and impression pixel to integrate into their content.
A channel for showcasing your products on price comparison websites. It typically works with a product feed.
Integration : the comparator tracking is integrated either into the destination URL attribute of your product feed (note: the feed must be exclusive to the comparator), or into the comparator configuration by adding a global prefix (redirection) or suffix (parameter) to the destination URL.
GDPR settings allow for obtaining user consent when an advertisement is displayed (impressions only). Consent for clicks is collected when the user arrives on the landing page.
IAB Eulerian vendor ID = 413
These settings are optional but may be required by some publishers or advertising networks.

9. Simplify the implementation
Four methods for creating your tracking tags:
Méthode
Description
Manual
Build your URLs by following the specifications for each channel above.
Tracking Generator
Integrated tool: Générateur de tracking
Mass trafficking
Template provided by your CSM to create your advertising tracking files in bulk
Dedicated connector
Specific tracking linked to a connector (Google Ads, DV360, Facebook Ads, etc.). See the list of connectors.
Use the dynamic macros of your partner platforms (ValueTrack for Google Ads, DV360 macros, Facebook macros…) to automatically retrieve the advertising structure without manual entry.
10. Verify that your tracking URLs are working correctly
Always test your URLs before publishing them :
Vérification
Comment
The landing page is correct
Copy and paste the tracking URL into your browser and check the page displayed.
The parameter ectrans=1 is added
Verify that it appears at the end of the URL after redirection (click tracking).
The campaign is heading back into the right channel
See Attribution > Media Control in real time
The click and impression counters are fed from the same line
Test different levels of segmentation
The virtual lever is correctly associated
Check your sub-lever configuration if applicable
11. Import your campaign data
Enhance your analysis by importing your aggregated media spend, clicks, and impressions.
Méthode
Description
Automatic connector
Automatically sync spend, clicks, and impressions from your advertising platform. See the list of connectors in Collecte .
Fixed economic model
Manually configure a fixed cost per campaign in the Campaign screen of the Collecte menu. Eulerian will estimate expenses automatically.
Import CSV
Import a CSV file to feed Eulerian with your spending, click, impression data or alias your advertising structure.
12. Exclude internal traffic
Isolate your teams' traffic by banning the corresponding IP addresses or user agents . This traffic will be grouped into a dedicated "Internal Network" channel.
This avoids polluting your levers with irrelevant traffic: call center, computers in store, internal team, etc.
13. Troubleshooting
Problème
Causes possibles
My campaign is not returning any data
The tracking is not configured correctly. The tracking URL has not been integrated into your advertising platform.
My campaign is back with the name "bad-name".
The campaign name is not unique (the same name is used on two different media). A prohibited special character is present in the name.
My campaign is inactive but is sending back data
Revisit cookies still active. Residual clicks.
"Direct Access" traffic is increasing abnormally.
Your pages are being crawled by bots. JS/S2S tags are missing on some entry pages. Email or advertising campaigns are not being tracked. Offline campaigns are not being tracked.
Preparing for a Campaign Launch — Checklist
Define the objectives of the different strategies/tactics of the campaign.
Define the campaign taxonomy (naming, media plan, SLV).
Generate the appropriate tracking (parameters or redirection depending on your setup).
Test the tracking :
Am I being redirected to the correct URL?
Does the campaign update in real time in Eulerian?
Is the parameter ectrans=1 present?
Provide tracking to your media partners .
Be vigilant on launch day : check the reporting of the first clicks/impressions.
