How to configure Meta MTA connector?

How to do it?

To import Meta prints into Eulerian, you need to follow these 3 steps:

- Connect your ad accounts to Facebook Business Manager
- Create the connector between Facebook and Eulerian
- Enable identity synchronization
- Configure the connector behavior with respect to user consent

Step One: Connect Your Ad Accounts to Meta Business Manager

You need to link all your client advertising accounts related to the management of your Facebook campaigns that you want to integrate into Eulerian with Facebook Business Manager.

1. Go to your Meta Business Manager , then click on Business Settings in the left menu bar > Click on Accounts in the left menu bar > then select Ad Accounts .

2. Select the individual ad account to share with the MTA provider.

3. Select Assign Partners

4. Select the company ID

5. Enter the Eulerian Business Manager ID,
522586087883326
, then enable (at least) View Performance and click Next .

6. You will receive a confirmation that the ad account has been added to the Eulerian database.

If you have multiple Meta ad accounts, you will need to repeat this for each ad account you wish to connect to Eulerian.

Step 2: Create the connector between Meta and Eulerian

1. Go to your Collection on Eulerian > Media Collection > Budget Connectors
2. Click on “Add a new connector”
3. Select Meta MTA Measurement
  • Name: name of your connector (free)
  • OAuth Authentication: Token Meta Authentication
  • Business Manager: Your Business Manager Meta
  • Target: generic
  • Account: Select the ad accounts linked to your Meta campaigns
  • Support:
The support name is a fundamental notion.
It is on this support dimension, defined at the connector level, that we will display the results in post-impression attribution of Meta.

Eulerian offers two configuration modes (simple and advanced) to meet the needs of Clients with multiple Meta advertising accounts.
Simple Mode ( you have only one Meta ad account ):
When you segment your "Social" channel by the "Publisher/Medium" dimension within the Global Summary report, you should find the entries "fb" and "ig".
In simple mode, the support name that should be integrated at the connector level is the one that generates the most marketing expenses.
If it is "ig", then it will be appropriate to indicate "ig".

Advanced Mode ( you have multiple Meta ad accounts ):
Some Customers sometimes have multiple Meta advertising accounts. In this context, Eulerian offers the possibility to synchronize multiple Meta advertising accounts via a single Eulerian connector.

If you are in this situation, please contact your CSM team for advice on the appropriate configuration.
  • Channel: your choice (social by default)
  • Goal: All goals you want to analyze with the Meta MTA connector

Start connector synchronization.

Step 3: Enable Identity Synchronization

This step is based on a cookie-matching mechanism which will allow Eulerian identifiers to be matched with Meta identifiers.
In anticipation of the disappearance of third-party cookies, our connector is already ready to accommodate another persistent identifier as a replacement (email address or mobile phone number encoded in SHA-256).

Your Customer Success team will keep you informed as soon as a connector update is needed.

1. Go to Identity Synchronization > choose “META MTA” .

If the pixel_id field is not populated, it means that the synchronization planned in step 2 was not carried out.

2. Select Custom Vendor > indicate the media name used for Meta in step 2 of this documentation.

In the example above, the media name used to track Meta campaigns is "facebook".

Please note that each Eulerian Client is able to define a custom media name for Meta (e.g. "meta-ads").

It will therefore be necessary to check the value of the esc-publisher= parameter available in your click tracking links for your Meta campaigns.

3. Select the appropriate purposes , at a minimum:
  • Purpose 1: Store and/or access information on a device
  • Purpose 7: Measure ad performance

Please keep the Special Features and Category CMP fields empty unless otherwise recommended by Eulerian.

4. Click “ Available ”.

5. Click “ Save ”.

Once the connector is correctly configured, you will need to wait between 48 and 72 hours to start seeing data appear.

Learn more about how the connector works technically

Meta imposes several restrictions on the use of impression data:

  • After finalizing the connector configuration, you will need to wait 48 to 72 hours before seeing the first impression data in your Eulerian MTA and Customer Journey reports.
  • Only goals with more than 100 results over the last 90 days are visible in the reports, so that they cannot be drilled down to a user level.
  • Data is only available for the last 90 days
  • Meta impressions are synced across the "medium/publisher" and "marketing channel" dimensions only, not at the campaign level.

In which reports is my Meta MTA impression data available?

Meta impressions data is available in different reports:

- MTA report (multi-touch attribution)
- Media Paths (customer journey)
- Device paths (customer journey)
- Bias analysis (customer journey)
- Number of keys (customer journey)
- Assisted vs. Assigned (customer journey)
- Duration (customer journey)
- Media exclusivity (customer journey)
- Device exclusivity (customer journey)
- Velocity (customer journey)

This data is not available in other Eulerian solutions and reports due to contractual and legal limitations agreed with Meta.

In order to improve the reconciliation rate between Eulerian and Meta, Eulerian offers its Clients the possibility of synchronizing their CRM database with Meta, via the use of reconciliation keys other than the cookie, such as the user's email address or mobile phone number, hashed in SHA-256.
