Create your 1st party data collection domain

Configure your data collection domain

When a user clicks on an incoming link, views an ad, or views a page on your website, the data associated with that user action is collected using tracking tags and then sent to Eulerian's servers to populate the various reports available on the platform. This destination address—also called the data collection domain —is external to your website by default, making it directly vulnerable to ad blockers.

Add a new data collection domain

We will explain how to add a new subdomain ("A Record") to your hosting platform and configure it as a tracking domain on your Eulerian account.

Why create a 1st party data collection domain?

  • Declaring a tracking subdomain allows you to benefit from 1st party collection.
  • Improve the measurement of inbound clicks and navigation on your website : Ad blockers monitor the resources loaded on each web page to block the download of any element whose domain name is identified as "unwanted" or "advertising." By using first-party aggregation, you significantly reduce the risk of your calls being blocked by ad blockers.
  • No need to modify your website's Content Security Policy (CSP).
  • Using a First-Party Cookie : The first-party cookie is placed by your website on your domain name. It benefits from a longer maximum lifespan and better accessibility within the web page compared to a third-party cookie (i.e., a cookie placed by a website other than the one the user is browsing). These permissions depend on the browser , its version, and several other factors such as the cookie placement method . For example, in the latest version of Safari:

What is an A Record?

The ''A Record'' is a record made in the Domain Name System (DNS) and allows a domain name to be associated with the IP (v4) address of a web server.
Without it, you would have no choice but to memorize the IP addresses of your favorite websites and type them into your address bar to access them, because it's thanks to it that your browser can bridge the gap between a simple series of words separated by periods and a more difficult-to-remember IP address. And in layman terms, here's what an A record looks like: '' my.domainname.com . IN A 13.123.123.32''.
The record is read from left to right and begins with the domain name (Origin) followed by the IN class (aka INTERNET) which is optional, the "A" record type (there are several such as CNAME) and finally the destination IP address .

How to declare the A Record

Step 1 : Copy the A Record that you received by email following your registration.
Step 2 : Log in to your hosting service platform
Step 3 : Go to the DNS configuration of your domain name and paste the A Record that you previously received by email (for example, '' abcd.test.com . A 32.132.66.70'').
Step 4 : Automatic - Your tracking domain will be automatically configured within 48 hours by our system. This step includes the creation of an SSL certificate to ensure secure data collection. You will receive a confirmation email after this step.
If you have CAA configured on your DNS, make sure that you allow  letsencrypt.org  CAA otherwise the SSL certificate won't be allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my tracking domain is active?

Check the "Collection Configuration >> Collection Domain" menu to see if your tracking domain is active. You will also receive a confirmation email at the end of step 4 within 48 hours of creating your subdomain.

Can I install the Eulerian tag on my site without waiting for the tracking domain to become active?

Yes, you can install the Eulerian tag on your website, but data collection will not be functional at this time. Data collection will be automatically activated as soon as our system has finalized the configuration of the collection domain. Consult our documentation on installing Eulerian tags to learn how to implement our source code.
