How to configure the Pinterest MTA connector?



How to do ?

To import Pinterest impressions into Eulerian, you need to follow these steps:

- Check that the Pinterest Pixel is correctly implemented on the Client's website
- Contact Pinterest support to whitelist the Client's advertising account, retrieve the TAG ID as well as the Client's ADVERTISER ID
- Create Pinterest MTA Connector & Enable Identity Sync
- Configure the behavior of the connector with regard to user consent


First step: Check that the Pinterest Pixel is correctly implemented on the Client's website


This step is the responsibility of the Customer and the Pinterest support team.

It will be up to the Customer to ensure that the Pinterest Pixel respects the following type:
"ConversionTagType = EXTERNAL_MEASUREMENT"

Second step: Contact Pinterest support to whitelist the Client's advertising account, and retrieve the Client's TAG ID and ADVERTISER ID


This step can be carried out by the Customer themselves or by the Eulerian Customer Success team, by contacting Pinterest support.

Whitelisting will allow the Client to send Pinterest data to Eulerian.
The TAG ID will be used in the connector configuration
The TAG ID and ADVERTISER ID will be information to be entered in Eulerian's MTA Pinterest connector.


Step Three: Create Pinterest MTA Connector & Enable Identity Sync




Description of fields

Name: free
Advertiser ID: This is the advertiser ID at Pinterest. It is essential that it is correct because Eulerian will use this identifier to retrieve MTA impression data from Pinterest. The Customer can retrieve this information from Pinterest support
Advertiser: free
TID: corresponds to the Pinterest Pixel ID (also called TAG ID). The Customer can retrieve this information from Pinterest support

By declaring this TID at the Pinterest MTA connector, Eulerian will automatically create the Pinterest cookie-matching tag by providing this same ID.

Engagement touch considered as: indicate "post-click" by default (unless otherwise recommended by your Pinterest support)

Specific to the Pinterest MTA connector, the Client will be able to feed their MTA models with impression data but also with Engagement data.

Understanding the Pinterest Engagement metric: Corresponds to the total number of engagements on your Pins. This includes saves, clicks on Pins, outgoing clicks, swipes on carousel cards, clicks on secondary creations (collections).

Click lookback window: 30 (days) by default. Allows you to customize the post-click attribution window.

View lookback window: 1 (day) by default. Allows you to customize the post-view attribution window.

Publisher: pinterest-ads by default. Must match the support name that the Client declared in its advertising tracking URLs (parameter &esc-support=)

Channel: social by default. Allows you to personalize the marketing channel associated with Pinterest.

Goal: conversions > sales by default. Allows you to customize the objective your MTA model will work on.

You can then freely modify this Objective directly from your MTA and Customer Journey reports.

Click on “ Save ”.

Once the connector is correctly configured, you will need to wait between 48 and 72 hours to start seeing data appear.


In what reports is my Pinterest MTA impressions data available?


Pinterest impressions data is available in different reports:

- MTA report (multi-touch attribution)
- Media Paths (customer journey)
- Device paths (customer journey)
- Bias analysis (customer journey)
- Number of keys (customer journey)
- Assisted vs. Attributed (customer journey)
- Duration (customer journey)
- Media exclusivity (customer journey)
- Device exclusivity (customer journey)
- Velocity (customer journey)

This data is not available in other Eulerian solutions and reports due to contractual and legal limitations agreed with Pinterest.

  • After finalizing the connector configuration, you will need to wait 48 to 72 hours before seeing the first impression data in your Eulerian MTA and Customer Journey reports.
  • The following features are not available in the configuration with Pinterest:
  • real-time access to user-based exposure attribution
  • creating an audience based on exposure
  • no exposure data in real-time reports
